Bright and happy cards!

Weather has been so blah and cold (ok, cold for Houston).  I wanted to make some bright and happy cards!  I had a paper pack that I purchased from Hobby Lobby that was just making me want to make cards.  It's by WR Memory Keepers and is the "White Out Collection - Hoopla".  I just love the fun colors.  Added a bit of bling and ribbon and the punch out tags that came with the kit.  Fun!!

Be sure to go check out my Personal Page for the MS150.  I'm raffling a set of cards off and one of these cards could just be in the collection if you won.  I'd love your support in reaching my goal for the MS150!

All go check out my blog with Fran (http://littlepaperstudio.blogspot.com/) and see more cards made from White Out Hoopla.   They are totally different from these cards.   Have a great day!

Conquering My Fear

The challenge of the week at Sketches By Tamara (http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/) is a journaling challenge.  We were to "journal about something in your life that you have overcome. It can be something very personal and of great importance or something that was a big moment or change in your life. Or it can be something that is more light hearted, maybe not a huge ordeal in your life but still a situation or something that you had to overcome and make it through to get to where you wanted to be or to accomplish what you wanted to accomplish."

Okay, my take was a little light-hearted NOW, but at the time I was really having problems.  When I first bought my bike, I was so excited to go out riding.  I wanted to be outside now, now, now!   I had been spinning inside, so it didn't occur to me how hard it would be to get used to clipless pedals.  I took my first dive to the ground out at the REI parking lot.  Ouch!   So now I was scared to ride.  But I wanted to ride.  Finally, with the advice of my good high-school friend, Mary, I got a set of Frog Speedplay pedals and the rest is history (and fear has been overcome!).   Here is my entry.

I'm a little sad that my title didn't show up well in the photo.  I used the little Making Memories letters on the top of the upper photo and top/side of lower photo "Conquering My Fear of the Clipless Pedals".   Paper and cardstock is CTMH, chipboard swirl is Plain Janes (had for eons) which I inked with chocolate ink.  Flowers are Prima.  Button is Target Dollar Spot.  Stamp is Elsie F.  Ink by CTMH.  Clips are Making Memories and sparkles are Dew Drops.

Go check out Sketches By Tamara to see what the rest of the design team did with this challenge.

Card Sketch Challenge

The challenge for this week at http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ is a card sketch. Here is the sketch.

Here is my entry.

I got a great page kit at the Danbury Retreat presented by By Design Scrapbooks (ala “the Pink Store”) http://www.bydesignscrapbookboutique.com/. I used many of the papers from that page kit for this card. The flower is by Bazzill (I think) and a whole bottle was given to me by my PAWS Secret Santa. Button is from my stash. I used cotton string for the button floss. Ribbon by HL.

Go check out http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ for artwork by the rest of the design team members. Enjoy!

The recipe challenge for January over at http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ was bling, flowers and rub-on. Here is my entry.

Some of the many Senior photos of my dd. I did a collage at Walgreens (inspired by the collage queen, my good friend, Gayla in Dallas). Again, I got the papers at my favorite store – The Pink Store (http://www.bydesignscrapbookboutique.com/). Flower and bling crown are Heidi Swapp. The heart is actually a piece of packaging (probably HS), which I cut and ran through my Cuttlebug with an embossing plate. I actually highlighted with some stickles but they didn’t show up in the photo. The crown of course is are HS. I couldn't identify the papers. The chipboard letters are assortment from my junk drawer, painted with MM paint from my friend, Kristin F (since my paint was dry). The rub-ons are Making Memories (I think).

Go check out http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ for artwork by the rest of the design team members. Since it was a recipe layout, there are all kinds of goodies – cards and layouts. Enjoy!

Sweet Treats

I know, I know, Halloween photos in January!

I organized photos over the Christmas break.  When I started scrapping (after a few theme albums), I started when the kids were babies and moved forward.  Then I got bored and wanted to scrap current things so I skipped ahead thinking I go back.  Well, I gues I stopped in about 1993 or 1994 because I found a slew of photos of that vintage and very few layouts.   So I am going to be busy working on layouts from all circas!

A personal goal in the past year or two is to try to use up some of my stash -- use it or lose it (donate or trash it).   I've pretty much donated and trashed everything I don't like anymore, so now I am definitely going to be using it now. It's still good stuff, right?

This layout was done for a challenge on my PAWS group.   Go check out my artwork blog with Fran for a different layout (same circa photo).   http://littlepaperstudio.blogspot.com/

Scrap cards

This card was made with scraps from my Family layout.   I've discovered that my sewing machine does NOT like those felt embellishments (so I got creative with my bling).    Enjoy!

Ringing in the New Year with some layouts!

I was fortunate to be selected to be on a design team this quarter over at http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/. Each month the design team will be doing a LO sketch challenge, a card sketch challenge, a recipe challege and a journaling challenge. All the artwork from the design team will be posted weekly.

In January, the first week is the sketch challenge. I did two layouts for the sketch challenge (although only one will be posted at the sketch blog). Here are my entries.

I used CTMH "Grace" level 2 paper pack and chocolate CTMH cardstock. The chipboard letters are CTMH, inked with Honey ink. The hinge is Making Memories (I think). The yellow Prima flower is from my Secret Santa (Karen I) and the brown flower is Spare Parts. The antique brad is CTMH. And I used my sewing machine!!This was a fun layout to do of my family many years ago. The papers and bird diecut are from a kit I got at a retreat at the Pink Store (http://www.bydesignscrapbookboutique.com/). I couldn't identify the papers. The chipboard letters are assortment from my junk drawer, painted with MM paint from my friend, Kristin F (since my paint was dry). The rub-ons on the flower and layout are from an old Making Memory rub-on swatch book.

Go check out http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ for the sketch and to see the artwork by the other design team members.

Challenge LOs

This year, I want to do more challenge layouts. It gets my juices flowing and I can usually crank out a layout pretty quickly on a sketch. Today is the last day for a challenge over at the PageMaps blog (http://www.pagemaps.com/). Here is my entry for the challenge due today!

I think this layout will also count for some challenge points on my PAWS yahoogroup. I used CTMH cardstock (Sunny Yellow, Holiday Red), a Bazzil diecut scalloped square, old MM rub-ons and an equally old Basic Grey "Holy Cow" rubons. Plus black rick rack from I don't know where.

Nestabilities

Playing with the Nestabilities. I love all the shapes they have out now. Sentiment is CTMH, Enjoy!

Birthday Card

Not sure if I posted this card previously. Since internet and the holidays, it's all a little fuzzy! LOL! This is a super simple card -- the paper is so outstanding, I didn't feel I needed to do much but a little bling! Paper is Basic Grey. Sentiment Stamp is CTMH.

Be sure to check out my creative blog that I share with my friend, Fran. I'm posting cards there also -- that are different from those posted here. Also, sign up to receive the emails on both blogs. My goal for 2010 is more sharinng!
